New Elementary School / YMCA @ Norton Commons

VBNA led this on-going Planning effort to provide Norton Commons with a combined Elementary School and YMCA. The two distinct facilities will share the same site, and will be connected by a common gymnasium. This project involves close coordination between JCPS, the YMCA, and Norton Commons. VBNA is working closely with Mr. David Tomes, the local developer, and Mr. Mike Watkins of Duany Plater –Zyberk & Company, the Town Architect for Norton Commons. Special considerations include on-site parking vs. off-site parking, connections to the surrounding neighborhood, image, street vistas, and land conservation. Program includes Pre-K through 5th grades, gymnasium, cafeteria, media center. Energy saving strategies such as geothermal heating and LED lighting will be employed.
