Southwick Community Center

Southwick Community Center
Louisville, Kentucky

The project involves the addition of a new gym, locker rooms, a weight room, offices and a large multi-purpose room. It also involves the renovation of the existing Center and construction of a new entry element at the terminus of the street to the south.

The building is defined by one axis from the proposed tree-lined lawn in the park and by another axis from the center of the street coming from the neighborhood to the south. The staff offices are placed at the intersection of these lines giving the opportunity for full supervision of the extensive public spaces and improving security of the Center.
