St. Aloysius Lifetime Learning Center
St. Aloysius Lifetime Learning Center
Pewee Valley, Kentucky
53,000 sf additions/renovations to existing parish school including: new and renovated classrooms, new administrative offices, new adult activities and multipurpose rooms, new music and art rooms, new Lobby and new cafeteria.
While consolidating the educational needs of the Parish, the project also had to tie the varied buildings of the Parish Campus together architecturally. To do this, a mixture of masonry materials was used to relate to the three main buildings of the Campus: Church, Rectory and the existing School. This mixture of materials also serves to reduce the bulk of the building to an appropriate scale for its place on the St. Aloysius Campus.
This sensitive use of masonry was recognized with a 1997 Award of Merit from the Kentuckiana Masonry Institute. It was also awarded the 1998 Honor Award for Excellence in Design from the American Institute of Architects Kentucky Chapter.
