Addition to Visually Impaired Preschool Services
VIPS
Louisville, Kentucky
VIPS assists children who are blind or sight-impaired. This addition more than doubled the size of the existing facility. Color and textures were critical in the design of the spaces. Addition included three Child Care rooms, a Technology Room, Braille Room, Sensory Room, and a child-size Kitchen. The main space is called “Kidstown” and is designed as a small town square. There is a bakery, bank, library, eye-doctor’s office, fast-food restaurant, and a grocery so that the children can learn how to use these facilities in real-life.
